Over the course of a year this 83 year old male’s lower lids had become droopy, overexposing his eyes to the air and causing constant tearing. Dr. Choe identified multiple reasons for the lid descent including tissue laxity and preexisting skin problems. The right side was noticeably worse after years of sleeping on that side. Dr. Choe determined that this patient would have the best results with a lid tightening procedure on both sides and a skin graft on the right lower lid to provide extra support. The skin graft was harvested from the redundant skin on his right upper eyelid, leading to the added bonus of increased peripheral vision. Despite the complexity of the procedure, the patient noted a great improvement in the tearing after only a week and continued to heal exceptionally well without any complications.
