Ptosis surgery
Ptosis surgery
This is a 65 year old female who noticed that her eyes were half shut because of her droopy eyelids (ptosis), rather than excess eyelid skin. She had a history of wearing hard contact lenses which contributed to the ptosis. The patient underwent ptosis repair via a small incision in the upper eyelid crease under local anesthesia. After the surgery, she not only noticed improvement in her peripheral vision, but also others said that she looks happier and more awake. (After photo at 5 weeks post op)
Ptosis surgery
Ptosis repair
This is a 78 year old male who had severe droopy eyelids due to ptosis causing obstruction of his peripheral vision. He did not have any visually significant dermatochalasis or extra skin. Thus, a small incision ptosis repair was performed and he noted improvement in his vision in addition to a “more awake” appearance while retaining a natural look. (After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Ptosis surgery
Ptosis repair
This is a 79 year old female who had severe droopy eyelids due to ptosis, causing obstruction of her field of vision. She did not have any visually significant dermatochalasis or extra skin so a small incision ptosis repair was performed. She was very happy with the rapid, easy recovery and improvement in her quality of life. (After photo at 14 weeks post op)
Entropion
Entropion and Retractor repair
This 74 year old female noted that her right lower eyelid frequently flipped inward, causing irritation and blurry vision. She was diagnosed with an entropion (inward turning eyelid). Lower Blepharoplasty
Upper and Lower blepharoplasty with Cosmetic brow lift
This is a 66 year old female who saw Dr. Choe for her drooping eyelids, which were limiting her vision and the amount of light she was able to see. The dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin) affected her ability to do everyday tasks and hobbies. She was also bothered by her lower lid bags and descending brow position as they both contributed to her increasingly tired and stern appearance. She decided to pursue an upper lid blepharoplasty in addition to a cosmetic lower lid blepharoplasty and brow lift with an incision hidden in the hairline. The patient is very happy with her results, increasing the clarity in her vision and refreshing her appearance without being unnatural. (After photo at 5 weeks post op)
Skin Cancer
Mohs reconstruction
This is a 56 year old female patient presenting with basal cell carcinoma on the inner corner of her left upper lid. After undergoing Mohs surgery, Dr. Choe reconstructed the resulting defect via a tissue flap that hides in the natural folds of the skin. The scar will continue to settle and blend in with time. (After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Brow Lift
Temporal direct brow lift
This 76 year old female patient noticed her field of view decreasing, which resolved when lifting the skin above her eyes. Dr. Choe diagnosed her with brow ptosis after the examination revealed temporal brow skin descent. Her insurance deemed it significant enough to cover a brow lift, which she pursued. The incisions made above her brows will continue to heal and fade away with time. The surgery not only greatly improved her vision, but also restored her natural and happier brow position. (After photo at 6 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair
This is a 72 female who had visibly significant dermatochalsis (excess upper lid skin) and ptosis (droopy eyelids), more so on the right upper lid. This led to her raising her brows in order to read. She also had positive herring’s, which caused her left upper lid to drop when the right upper lid was lifted. Dr. Choe determined it would be best to do a bilateral blepharoplasty and ptosis repair. After a short recovery, the patient was highly satisfied with the results. (After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This patient is a 67 year old female presenting with dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin). She consequently struggled seeing in her periphery, noting that she had to turn her head more when she was driving. She made a full recovery after undergoing blepharoplasty surgery, resulting in brighter and unobstructed vision. (After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Lower Blepharoplasty
Upper and lower lid Blepharoplasty with Ptosis repair
This is a 64 year old female who had significantly droopy upper eyelids due to dermatochalasis (excess skin) and ptosis (droopy eyelids). She was also interested in pursuing a cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Before surgery, she had some swelling in the lower eyelids that was suggestive of a complication from prior filler. Dr. Choe dissolved it by injecting a hyaluronidase with good improvement. After surgery, the patient noticed improvement in both appearance and peripheral vision. (After photo at 29 weeks post op)
Skin Cancer
Mohs reconstruction
This is a 60 year old female who had been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on the inner corner of her right upper lid. She underwent Mohs surgery to remove the skin cancer and was left with a sizable defect. This was repaired by Dr. Choe the same day using a flap technique. During the healing process, Dr. Choe carefully observed and treated the scar, which will continue to settle and heal with time. (After photo at 25 weeks post op)
Brow Lift
Temporal direct brow lift
This is an 81 year old male with a history of an upper lid lift (blepharoplasty) who noticed his peripheral vision decreasing with time. Dr. Choe noted his brow position was to blame. After electing to undergo a brow lift covered by his insurance, the patient was very happy with the results. The scars made above his brows healed well and will continue to fade with time. (After photo at 5 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair of the right upper lid
This patient is a 70 year old male with bilateral dermatochalsis (excess lid skin) and a right upper lid ptosis (droopy eyelid). He noticed that raising his brows lifted the skin out of his periphery, allowing him to see more. He underwent a blepharoplasty and ptosis repair, resulting in a great improvement in his vision and quality of life. (After photo at 6 weeks post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This patient is a 67 year old female complaining of sagging skin (dermatochalasis) and irritation in the folds of her upper lids (steatoblepharon). She reported raising her eyebrows often to lift the eyelid skin, resulting in a wider field of view. Dr. Choe recommended a blepharoplasty to relieve her of the heaviness her lids were causing. After a quick and smooth recovery, the patient noted a significant improvement in her vision and appearance. (After photo at 9 weeks post op)
Skin Cancer
Mohs reconstruction
This is a 76 year old man who presented with a basal cell carcinoma involving the right lower lid. He underwent Mohs excision of the cancer resulting in a quarter sized defect. This was repaired successfully with a flap which yielded great cosmetic results. (After photo at 12 weeks post op)
Brow Lift
Temporal cosmetic brow lift
This is a 54 year old female patient who was unsatisfied with her brow position. Although it was not affecting her vision, they had fallen, giving her a tired look. She underwent cosmetic brow lift surgery with a hidden scar at the hairline. The scar healed beautifully and she was happy with the results. (After photo at 13 week post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair
This 68 year old female presented with longstanding dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin), which limited her peripheral vision and consequently made it more difficult to read and drive. When she lifted her brows, she was able to see more light. After a blepharoplasty, she noted her peripheral vision was restored and she no longer needed to constantly raise her brows. (After photo at 14 weeks post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This 65 year old male patient was unaware of the visual significance of his drooping eyelids until he lifted them up, noting an improvement in his driving and computer vision. He was diagnosed with dermatochalasis (excess lid skin) on both upper eyelids and underwent a successful upper blepharoplasty. Note the persistent swelling around his eyes, caused by CPAP usage, was unaffected by the surgery. (After photo at 5 week post op)
Brow Lift
Midforehead brow lift
This is a 76 year old female who had a tendency to raise her brows to achieve brighter and clearer vision. If relaxed, things looked darker; making it hard to read and see in general. She elected to undergo a brow lift which was covered by her insurance and involved an incision made in her forehead lines. Despite the initial appearance of a scar, her scar will heal gracefully and completely fade away with time. The patient not only appreciated her unobstructed vision, but also the more energized appearance of her brow position, which now contours her eyes much better. (After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Temporal cosmetic brow lift
This is a 57 year old female who complained of decreased peripheral vision, which greatly impacted both her work and hobbies. When she raised her brows, things appeared brighter and clearer. She also could no longer wear mascara noting her upper lid skin obscured her eyelashes. Dr. Choe recommended a functional blepharoplasty to correct the dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin) and a cosmetic brow lift with a hidden scar at the hairline to improve her brow position and smooth her forehead lines. After an easy out-patient surgery with local anesthesia, the patient was highly satisfied noting an improved quality of life and feeling more comfortable with her appearance. (After photo at 5 week post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This 74 year old male had been taping his eyelids up in order to see clearly, especially in his upper field of vision. By the end of the day his eyelids would drop so low that they were basically closed. Dr. Choe determined his problem was due to an excess amount of skin weighing over his eyes, otherwise known as dermatochalasis. After an out-patient blepharoplasty surgery and easy recovery, the patient noted that his peripheral vision had greatly improved and no longer needed assistance to keep his eyes open. (After photo at 6 weeks post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This is a 70 year old female presenting with dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin). She had to hold her eyelids up or raise her brows to see clearly, which affected many of her daily activities. After undergoing an out-patient blepharoplasty surgery, her vision and quality of life significantly improved. (After photo at 8 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair
This 77 year old female patient presented with visual impairment from her excess eyelid skin (dermatochalasis) and droopy eyelids (ptosis), more noticeable on the right side. She was unable to open her eyelids by themselves and had to use her finger to physically move them out of the way, which greatly increased the brightness and clarity of her vision. After a short recovery following a blepharoplasty and ptosis repair, she was highly satisfied with the results. (After photo at 8 weeks post op)
Upper blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty
This is a 53 yo male who had prior eyelid surgery with a surgeon who was not an oculofacial plastic specialist. The patient did not get the results he was hoping for and his eyelids continued to obstruct his vision and appeared abnormally swollen and puffy. Dr. Choe was suspicious about a reaction to retained filler as the patient had evidence of retained filler causing swelling of the lower eyelids. The retained filler was dissolved but the upper eyelids remained very swollen and heavy. The patient underwent blepharoplasty surgery and massage was applied to the tissue below the brow which resulted in the expression of a clear fluid. The patient did very well post-operatively with significant improvement in peripheral vision and appearance as Dr. Choe was able to correctly identify and treat the underlying cause of the issue. (After photo is 4 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery

(After photo at 7 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair
This is a 66 year old female who had severe droopy eyelids due to a combination of dermatochalasis (excess skin) and ptosis (droopy eyelids) causing severe obstruction of her peripheral vision. She has been taping her eyelids up for years, but even that was starting to be insufficient to give her the vision she needed to function in her job and day-to-day life. She underwent upper blepharoplasty and ptosis repair under local anesthesia and afterwards no longer had to struggle and strain to open her eyes to see and function. (After photo at 12 weeks post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Cosmetic brow lift
This is an 81 year old female who had significant droopy eyelids due to excess skin, diagnosed as dermatochalasis. She also had developed a stern look due to her brows dropping. She underwent upper blepharoplasty surgery and cosmetic brow lift with a concealed scar at the hairline, which increased her peripheral vision. Her resulting brow position also better framed her now unobscured eyes, giving her a more youthful and brighter appearance. (After photo at 10 week post op)
Combination Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty and Ptosis repair
This patient is an 82 year old male who had visually significant ptosis (droopy eyelids) and dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin). He had to raise his eyebrows to lift the eyelid skin up, but his droopy lids still obstructed the top half of his vision. The patient did very well after both blepharoplasty surgery and ptosis repair and was very happy with the results. (After photo at 5 weeks post op)
